New Week, New Beginnings – Weekend Reads Update

I’ve had a stressful weekend which led to the requirement to lose myself in the safe arms of a book. With this is mind I managed to finish The Carrie Diariesby Candace Bushnell and continue a little further into the world of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

The Carrie Diaries followed the life of Carrie, the same Carrie from the Sex and the City novels by Candace Bushnell with the exception that this book explores her life as a teenager and the trials and tribulations of school life, boyfriends, friendships and future prospects. A full review for this book will be up this week so be sure to check it out.

I found The Carrie Diaries a great book even though it was completely different to the TV adaptation, however this is something I really enjoyed because the plot was a mystery and I couldn’t predict what was going to happen. Overall I am giving this book a 4 out of 5 on goodreads as I head onto the second book to find out where Carrie’s journey goes next.

I read part of The Hunger Games but I am finding it difficult to get into the book properly because I have it as an e-copy and not even on my kindle but on my phone so there are so many distractions as text messages and emails come in. I decided this weekend that to fully enjoy the book I have to obtain a hard copy as soon as possible so this week’s goal is to buy my own or borrow one which shouldn’t be difficult as nearly everyone except for me has it.

The week ahead will find me reading the second book in The Carrie Diaries saga entitled, Summer and the City by Candace Bushnell as I am impatient to find what lies ahead for Carrie. After The Carrie Diaries hopefully I can enjoy The Hunger Games in book form which I predict will be an addictive book especially when I reach the games. Or I might go on to The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaimen which promises to be an interesting read, following the life of a young boy forced to live in a graveyard and who is consequently raised by ghosts . Whichever mood sweeps me up this week, one thing is for certain; that I will not be without a book.

If you have any suggestions or recommendations or even if you would like me to read a book sooner that you’ve spotted on my book hauls, why not leave a comment! Or even tell me about your weekend, stressful, fun, spent in a book or doing something you love!

Have a great week readers, and keep checking back for some reviews, a book haul and a monthly wrap up this week!
