It’s the weekend folks and at that the last weekend of June. So as of next week we will be hitting the half way mark for the year which is so hard to believe!
Last weekend there were a few internet connectivity issues so I couldn’t get posting my weekend reads post. At least this weekend we are back up and running with lots of posts happening over the next few days with the end of the month and finishing up a few books.
This weekend as I am continuing to do some stuff for work I will still be reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer and 172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad. As usual my impatience led to me picking up the second book whilst already reading one because I was just dying to get stuck in. Both books are so different yet so incredibly good so I am glad I picked them up when I did.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer is based on the fairy tale character of Cinderella with a twisted plot. In the book Cinder is actually a cyborg and a mechanic who is entrusted to fix an android for the Prince. The world’s population is gradually deteriorating with a sudden illness and when someone close to her is affected Cinder’s world is turned upside down. She becomes stuck between her desires, her duty and her past leaving nothing but a string of difficult decisions ahead of her.
So far Cinder is really good, I’m finding it hard to put the book down and get other things done. Then to add a little madness to the mix I picked up 172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad. So I’m now stuck between two really good books with little or no time to read them throughout the week.
172 Hours on the Moon focuses on a competition to the Moon run by NASA. The last mission to the Moon was forty years previously and with no reasons for not going, Mia, Antoine and Midori apply to the completion. Upon winning they are all excited for the experience of a lifetime but the Moon holds secrets and it’s not just the journey they should fear.
This book is so creepy and yet so addictive, I just want to know what’s going to happen so badly. Yet at the same time I don’t want to read this book when I’m alone.
If all goes well this weekend I will have these two books finished and added to my list of books I read this month. I should hopefully have the reviews up next week with my Monthly Wrap Up and July TBR so keep checking back for new posts.
Have you met your June goals or are there any books you would like to see featured on the blog next month? Leave a comment below and let me know what you think.
Have a great weekend readers!
