Happy New Year!
I hope you all had an amazing New Year’s Eve, I know I did and I wish I could do it all over again. Nothing beats relaxing and welcoming the New Year with the people you love, a few munchies and movies.
As we are now into the New Year I know we may all be charged and ready to start into reading but in case you need that extra boost here are a few read – a – thon’s to help get January started.
Bout of Books #12
I am so excited about this read –a – thon ever since I participated last year. I love Bout of Books because it is so global and so many people participate. It makes reading extra fun when you know you have other bloggers joining in alongside. The girls at Bout of Books always have a blurb to add to your blog so I have posted this below with all the details of when, where and how long it will run. There are also lots of challenges running throughout the week so head over to the official Bout of Books blog for more information.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 5th and runs through Sunday, January 11th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 12 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
What Lovely Books
There is also a read –a – thon happening over on What Lovely Books on Tumblr. This will run from the 3rd of January through until the 11th of January. As it states this is a casual read –a – thon so it doesn’t matter about time zones or where in the world you are. All you need to do is send a message to the creator and read read read. You can find more information here.
National Read-A-Thon Day
If you have a few pennies left over from Christmas you can also read for charity. Penguin and Random House are running a read-a-thon day to raise awareness for people who still aren’t able to read and are below the basic reading proficiency. This is an read –a – thon taking place on Saturday the 24th of Janaury between 12 noon and 4pm so it doesn’t last very long but will still make a dent in your TBR’s and be for a good cause.
You can take pictures of your participation or tweet about it with the hashtag #timetoread
So there you have it, something for everyone to help get motivated for reading in January. I will probably take part in them all and try to start the year off with success. My TBR lists will be posted before the read-a-thons so keep checking back!
Happy New Year!
