Weekend Reads #59

Happy Weekend Readers!
So this weekend I am working both Saturday and Sunday so I won’t have as much free time as I’d like but I am hoping to spend both evenings relaxing with a good book. At the minute I am finishing off reading Ready Player One by Ernest Clines and Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee. I’m taking my time with Go Set A Watchman because I really want to concentrate on the plot, the characters and the writing styles. So far I am really enjoying it despite what some critics have been saying. I’m trying to avoid as much criticism as possible until I can make my own mind up about the book, but at this stage I’m really enjoying reading about Scout as she’s grown up. Harper Lee has still managed to capture her fun-loving and independent spirit that I loved in To Kill A Mockingbird.
If I get round to it I would also like to start a new book this weekend, Uninvited by Sophie Jordan. It’s about Davy, a young girl who is diagnosed with having the kill gene, the strand of DNA that states you are more than likely to kill someone in your lifetime. It looks at her life and how those closest to her act after finding out about her unique DNA. She finds comfort in another kill gene individual, Sean as it explores what having the kill gene really means.
As per usual I have been quite busy this week but have managed to finish reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I just couldn’t put it down as I desperately wanted to know what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed this book as it followed Charlie in a coming of age story as he learned to tackle school and friendships.
I have had a really good reading week so far and can’t wait to finish it off with a relaxing two evenings and a good book.
Have a good weekend Readers!
