Book bans are definitely a thing of the past for me, however in saying that I haven’t bought many books this year. Then on Saturday I ventured out to a book fair and may have bought more books than I expected, not to mention I then came home to a pile of book in the post, so all in all it turned out to be an amazing bookish weekend.
Below are the books I bought over the weekend and some were real bargains so I’m very happy with that. I also managed to buy some old classic collections which look beautiful on my new bookcase, I’m so pleased with them.
The Grapes of Wrath – John Steinbeck
Lord of the Flies – William Golding
The Hunchback of Notre Dame – Victor Hugo
Sense and Sensibility – Jane Austen
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
Great Expectations – Charles Dickens
Oliver Twist – Charles Dickens
Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte
Frankenstein – Mary Shelley
Poems of Byron, Keats and Shelley
Now I already own all of these books but as soon as I saw the collection I fell in love with it, I just love old hardback books with beautiful spines and gold designs and I managed to get them for an amazing price so I was not walking past.
I also managed to get a really lovely penguin collection called Great Ideas which has 18 small books all by different classic authors which I can’t wait to get a good look at.
I was able to buy a lot of paperbacks and fiction for phenomenal price so I couldn’t walk past, one of my favourite buys was a large version of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak which I have already read and loved so much. I’m even contemplating a reread soon.
Life of Pi – Yann Martel
The Hundred Year Old Man – Jonas Jonasson
Everything is Illuminated – Jonathan Safran Foer
The Never-Ending Days of Being Dead – Marcus Chown
The Haunting of Tabitha Grey – Vanessa Curtis
The Storyteller – Jodi Picoult
The Complete Collection of Oscar Wilde
The Book Thief– Markus Zusak
Chosen – Ted Dekker
The Six Sacred Stones – Matthew Reilly
A Clockwork Orange – Anthony Burges
This sounds like a lot of books but wait there’s more because I then came home to find a pile in the post that I had ordered earlier in the week and some I’d even preordered. I was so happy because I even managed to buy a copy of Library of Souls, the third book in the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. However I was able to buy a signed edition which is just the icing on the cake.
Library of Souls – Ransom Riggs
The Miniaturist – Jessie Burton
All The Light We Cannot See – Anthony Doerr
A Girl’s Best Friend – Lindsey Kelk
I am so happy with this massive haul that I would love to spend the next few weeks wrapped up in the house reading but it’s safe t say commitments call. At least I know I am well stocked for cosy winter nights in.
