Christmas at the Gingerbread Cafe – Rebecca Raisin

I spotted this on Amazon when I was looking at kindle books, I was in the mood for a light hearted, short, festive read and this just ticked all those boxes. Christmas at the Gingerbread Cafe is an easy read that I managed to finish in one sitting. It flows perfectly with the plot and the story develops very quickly.

Although the book is quite short, there is still enough time to develop an opinion about the characters. I really liked the main character Lil, she is a fun, successful businesswoman who lives in a small town and runs a homemade goods shop with a lively and loveable colleague Ceecee. Ceecee is a big personality in the book who holds the wisdom of the world, is a humble character with a personality you can’t help loving. I really loved her character, as not only was she a great friend and colleague to Lil, she seemed more of a maternal figure. She looks out for her and helps her through any difficult times which provides a real caring aspect to the book.

The writing of this book was so easy to follow and I really liked Rebecca Raisin’s structure and style of writing. The plot was easy to follow and before I knew it I had finished the book. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

This is the perfect chick-lit novel for a great Christmas time read, Lil is a likeable character and following her on her showdown with the shop across the road and overcoming her broken heart makes this such a sweet, heart warming read.

I gave this book a 4 out of 5 on goodreads as it was just what i needed and at the perfect time. I love Christmas and love spending the evenings in my house filled with twinkly lights, a great festive novel and a hot chocolate so why not start early and read this book. It’s very easy to obtain as an ebook, I know I will definitely be reading the rest of this series over the next few weeks.
