24in48 Readathon

Hey readers!

It’s one of those exciting times of the year when we get to ditch daily life and curl up and read…why? Well it’s all because it’s readathon time! This weekend is the 24in48 readathon, a chance to read for 24 hours over a 48 hour period and what that means is over Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of January you can read for 24 hours. Now that doesn’t have to be in one sitting, the 24 hours of reading time can be split between two 12 hour sessions, maybe 4 sessions of 6 hours or if you’re working just mix it, go crazy and read when you can over the two days. As you can tell I am excited about this readathon, I have been planning to participate for a while now and I have planned snacks, pizza and a super comfy blanket and pillow combo in the study where I am not to be disturbed during reading hours.

With all of the above in mind I am trying to get together the right pile of books to read which is really difficult. There are a few books I had in mind from the beginning but I think I finally have a pile of books ready to go…but don’t judge me because it is extensive and just a tad unacheivable. There is no way I can read all of these books but I have them ready in case I don’t want to continue with one and can start another. So here goes the books I have lined up for the 24in48 readathon:

First up is the Harry Potter series because I wanted to re-read the series this year. I have already read the first three books this month and they are quick reads because the plot moves quickly and the story develops at a fast pace so I am hoping to continue with it. I doubt  I will read them all but they will be close at hand if I want to binge the entire series in 24 hours.

Ok readers, prepare to GASP! I have never read the Twilight series yet I have seen the movies. I know, you don’t need to tell me. There are readers out there that hate the series, find it laughable and make fun of the characters, the vampires and all but I feel like I can’t contribute to the conversation until I have read the books. Equally there are readers that love this series and I liked the movies so despite the twinkling vampires (which I have to admit is a little weird) I do want to read this series because I think I’m going to like it.

I think I am determined to annoy people with my reading choices because next on my list is Gossip Girl. I loved the TV show and it took me years to finally watch it but as soon as I did I was hooked and when I found out it was developed from books I knew I had to read them. I have read a few of the books in the series that I borrowed from the library but I have been wanting to own the collection myself and finally I bought them for a great price second hand a few days ago. Well once you have a new set of books all you want to do is read them right? So on the pile they go…but of course I can control my need to read and I’m aware there is only 24 hours…so I only picked 3 books.

Finally and because I’m not crazy thinking I can read all of the books above in 24 hours (although I will try) the final two books in my pile are:

Red Queen – Victoria Aveyard

Caraval – Stephanie Garber

So with these two books I want to at least start them, I got them as presents for Christmas and I keep looking at them on my shelf with their beautiful covers. Not to mention I have heard nothing but great things about them both.

So if you are taking part in the 24in48 readathon leave a comment below, I would love to hear your thoughts and what you plan on reading. Obviously I have spent a lot of time devising my TBR pile and paid great attention to the reading time of 24 hours…

I am well aware this pile is insane but I want to stay motivated for the full reading time and get a head start on my reading challenge for this year so if I start some of the books above that will be a great achievement on my part.

Good Luck Readers and if you want to follow my progress keep an eye on my Litsy, Goodreads, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Hold on a minute…you haven’t read the Twlight Series? I think I knew this, but still comes as a shock every time.

My personal fav is Eclipse, I found it the most gripping, and you find out all about Jasper in it which I loved. Will be keen to know what you make of them once you’re finished!

Haha Yes! I have a feeling you know this…lol I finally have read it though over the readathon weekend and I wish I hadn’t have waited this long! I feel I would have appreciated it more 10 years ago!

Definitely going to continue the series though because it brings something different to the series and what I know from the movies!
